It's a quiet Sunday morning this Labor Day weekend, a perfect opportunity to dive deeper into this outstanding book centered around Life and Work, entitled Principles by Ray Dalio.
This past week was enriching on so many levels, serving to deepen my commitment to transformative opportunities.
I might only be 39 pages in, but reading this only bolsters my belief.
Labor Day should be a time where we celebrate the work we have done. Today, reflect not only on the past, but on what this life at work could hold for all of us.
Thank you, Ray Dalio, for a book so often recommended I had to buy it... and I've already bought a copy for someone else.

I have been watching with delight as those who attended our inaugural 'Transforming Automotive Partnerships' share their feedback and insights from our conference in Charlotte. We had an objective of changing minds about how we look at things inside our industry.
When we get too narrow in our focus and with walls beside us... we are not seeing all of the challenges facing our dealers and different ways to approach them with solutions for the issues they confront.
This was an incredible group of people and I wish you all could have seen the trust and transparency that happened in the room this week. New relationships, new possibilities, new strategies... And new friends.
If you are a dealer, ask your vendors if they have ever attended anything like this or if they will be. Because I promise you, this adds value to what they are bringing to the table.
To all of you who made the effort and time and jumped right into this initiative even though you didn't know exactly what the day would hold... thank you. Thank you for your passion and commitment to delivering your dealers the best possible service.
Each and everyone of you made a difference and we'll make a difference together!

5 Questions to both GSMs aspiring to grow and get the opportunity to be GMs and Service Directors who want to move forward to Fixed Ops Director positions, but don't have an opening in your market:
1) What are you currently doing to add value and learn on your own to be ready?
2) What public evidence is there of your efforts and achievement?
3) If there was a program designed to help you get to the next step, would you pay for it on your own...be able to ask your store for this...or not be interested at all?
4) If no current opportunities exist in your market- are you willing to move to accept a promotional step in your career?
5) If a 2 year stint was available in a different market that offered you this position, would you consider it for the opportunity to expand your knowledge and resume?
I see opportunities every day across the country for talented people at great organizations. I would ask that you look carefully at these questions.
Please, refrain from publicly sharing "why someone should hire you!" material....and no venting. That would be a leading indicator this wouldn't be right for either of us.
