How much am I looking forward to Reuters Automotive conference in Las Vegas?

I'm not sure if this will help, but I cancelled my trip to a conference in Italy for this.

Being asked to moderate two panels with a full line up of incredibly talented industry leaders was something I could not pass up.

Some of you know that prior to any panel I moderate we do considerable prep.

I learn about the panelists, they learn about each other.

We all have a better baseline of understanding and I know what it's going to take to highlight and spotlight each of them for the benefit of our interested audience.

Another wonderful side effect of this is they learn about me...and they learn to trust me.

Having helped with dozens of panels in the past, quite often people are anxious about taking the stage.

Trust me this is more common than you can imagine.

But over and over again I say, "I will not let you fall and I will help you put your best foot forward."

So imagine how thrilled I am to be moderating the panel with this incredible lineup:

It is a solemn evening in Detroit.
As we landed, our Pilot came on the overhead and ask us to please sit patiently while they escorted a fallen soldier's body off of our aircraft.

Several of us watched in honor as they proceeded to escort him off of the plane and onward towards his final journey home.

The sun was setting beautifully in the background and our hearts were broken.

Thank you to the brave serviceman or woman who committed everything for us.

Thank you for your Service.
Thank you for your Courage.

And we thank your family for their sacrifice. The ultimate sacrifice.

Sending out my woefully inadequate condolences and prayers.

Watching a simple casket as it was draped with the American Flag took our collective breath away. For several minutes we were all single minded, focused on honoring this Hero.

We should always remember to stop and think and be grateful.

Godspeed, Brave Soldier.

🙅‍♀️Why?! Don't believe the people that tell you they work insane hours.

Most of them have backup systems, people working for them, have a partner pulling an unfair burden at home and they can leave work whenever they want.

😵‍💫Don't believe that this is the success formula.

😳Don't believe that the new generation doesn't have work ethic. They are actually incredibly competent and generous with their time. And the results from them are remarkable!

😪Do believe that very often they are making this up for effect.

⏰️Whenever someone tells me they work twelve to fourteen hours every day ... I do the math. And the math ain't mathin.

🏆Do you know that it is possible to make an incredible impact without sacrificing everything you hold dear, including your family and friends? It is.

🎖Do you know there are ways to have work life harmony that are wildly successful and profitable and enjoyable? There are a million.

✨️At my company we will never even begin to suggest people subject themselves to unreasonable hours. We don't work with companies who have this mindset. They must meet our guidelines or we will not work for them or send candidates their way.
That would be a recipe for disaster.

If you are an entrepreneur and make those choices, that's up to you.

🤕To ask others or insist that others live up to your 'ideals', real or not, so that you can profit from their efforts and they get the crumbs, is absolutely unacceptable.

🤨Don't go for the sound bites.
🥱Don't go for the pretty pictures.

🏃‍♀️Go straight towards sanity, strategy, and sustainability. We will run right along side of you the entire way.

Your body, your mind, your soul are all important.

McKinsey & Company shared an article this week on Employees' view of Leadership. The respondents had troubling insights to share. In addition, I have to wonder how many people chose not to participate, fearing potential retaliation.
