In the 'You Cannot Make This Up' category, things I heard in a conversation again in the last week:

📞I receive, and gladly take, an inordinate amount of calls and requests to meet each week. I can't always answer immediately, but as soon as I'm free, I am there to listen and learn-and frequently know the caller, known or unknown to me previously, is looking for some assistance.

This happened again last week.
Here is a nearly verbatim excerpt of the conversation.

👉Them: "Laurie, I'm having trouble with my business. I have lost my first clients and I'm having a hard time finding new ones. No one is calling. I need revenue or I won't be able to continue."

🙋‍♀️Me: "So share with me what you are doing on free, easy to use Social Platforms like FB, LinkedIn, Insta, TikTok, et al? Lots of people, great place for them to learn about you, your business, how it helps them..."

👉Them: "I don't like Social Media."

🙋‍♀️Me: "What is your current Marketing budget?"

👉Them: "I have to wait to spend money on Marketing until I get more business."

🙋‍♀️Me: "Gotcha. So how badly do you want this? Do you believe you are good at what you do and are you proud of the work you offer?"

👉Them; "Yes!!! I'm great at it. I have a degree, certifications and love what I do."

🙋‍♀️Me: "And you still want to start your own business and attract a client base for those skills?"

👉Them: "YES! I don't know why people aren't responding."

🤷‍♀️Me: "To what?"

👉Them: " ----"

(((awkward silence...finally...)))

🙋‍♀️Me: " Are you asking because you would like my help?
I am glad to share (Donate!) an hour showing you how I have built my business through no-cost Social Media and Marketing along with public speaking opportunities?"

👉Them: "No- I really don't like Social anything."

🙋‍♀️Me: "Hey, good luck. I wish you the best!!!"

Not often at a loss for words, I simply said, I have another call coming in...nice catching up with you.

But I'm still sad for them. 🤷‍♀️
Truly wishing all of us an open mind and constant enlightenment.
Saying 'no' and unwillingness to grow isn't something I am familiar enough to help with.
