I have had the pleasure to participate with GreerWalker CPAs and Advisors in their Executive Roundtable series they launched last December.

Last weekend, Shane Stender 🌊 took on the formidable challenge of a 19 mile swim. Not at a pool or in a pond. As if that alone would not have pressed mere mortals to the limit.

He swam 19+ miles- IN THE HUDSON RIVER!

The planning, determination, strength and commitment that he placed towards this goal were remarkable.

I can do hard things.....

It's a phrase I have hanging above my office door on a wood plaque as a reminder to myself that I(we) can do hard things in life and the hard things we do make us better at our work and our lives.

At #Kain2023 I made one of my upcoming events publicly known (something I usually do not do).

Friday the event took place.

I participated in stage 7 of the 8 Bridges Hudson River Swim. It was an epic 18 mile marathon rules swim from the GW Bridge to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, at the throat of #NYC Harbor.

I am new to this distance of swimming and it did not disappoint in how tough it was mentally and physically.

I pushed through thunder, lightning, choppy waves, vomiting (a story for another day 🤣, and lack of nutrition to finish!

Maybe you're tasked with a hard assignment at work, or you're short staffed and covering multiple roles, or you are working full time and studying for a degree and managing a household!

Everyone can do hard things and we can apply the lessons we learn to be better.

So the next time a partner says they need something last minute and done tomorrow. Yeah, I can, I can do hard things!!

For my younger sister, Lisa.
She loved daisies.

Next month will mark nine years since her untimely passing.

I planted a small pot of Shasta daisies for her a few years ago, when my home was still newer to me.

In the same way as I light a candle for her at every single church I visit abroad, I cannot pass a daisy without thinking of her and sending her my thoughts and wishes.

Now this singular token of remembrance has grown to be so tall and wide, it has taken over a large area along the walkway to my front entrance.

They want to be seen and enjoyed.
They need room to grow.

She did too.

This fall, I will split these abundant flowers so they can take root and bloom all around the house, making several spots carefully chosen to highlight their beauty and give them room to continue to roam.

I think she'd like that.

I hope you are enjoying your flowers.
And most of all, I hope you're doing okay out there, Lis.
