On Hiring Struggles.
It happens every day.
🤷🏼‍♂️"We can't find good people."
"We can't find people willing to work."

🤔Yet I look around, and there are few women and they are statistically holding lower paying, often entry level or narrowly siloed (office managers) roles. 👀
The salaries you are paying them barely cover rent today.

When you hear this phrase,
"I don't have a problem hiring women."
Or, "I would hire women, but I can't find them,"
You have a problem you haven't yet fully faced in the mirror.

🎯You need a clear strategy, with far more structure and commitment than, "Well we would hire them if they applied."

👩🏼‍🦰👩🏼‍🦳👩🏼Many of you were raised by strong working women, and you are so very proud of them. You tell us they made all the difference for you- they toiled, worked 2 jobs and sacrificed to help make you what you are today.

🚺And many of you were raised by strong SINGLE working women and we heard your accolades on Mother's Day, yet you are not hiring those like your own Mothers, Daughters, Sisters.

Children understand equal compensation and rewards for equal work should be the norm.

Look at how uncomfortable the boys are as they discover that they have been given more than their fair share and the girls have been given less.

Make it your business to know how your company compensates all of its workers.

On Encouraging You to Make the Introduction: Have Courage!
Twice this week (perhaps more) I walked up to industry colleagues at the conference whom I had never had the pleasure of meeting prior to the Reuters event in Las Vegas.

✨Twice this week (perhaps more) I met incredibly talented, interesting and delightful new people who I will know now forever.

🎯With Chris Bailey, we talked just prior to the start of the two back-to-back panels I was privileged to hose and said to him, "Come and join us- these are great people, and we'll talk more after."

He did.
He enjoyed.
And we did meet later. Over and over again.
Including two terrific dinners brimming with great people and conversations.

👉Throughout the next 48 hours I was able to learn more about Working Solutions and how their services are transforming unmet and challenging needs for their clients globally. Newer to #Automotive, they are now offering significant relief to Dealers everywhere.

✨Next up, the inimitable powerhouse, Joanna C. Cooper, who also happens to be a Charlotte neighbor!

I was able to catch her panel which included Fleming Ford - Executive Coach as moderator and Elgie Bright as co-panelist.

🚀Again, we broke bread at Emeril's, this time with my new friend Chris Bailey and dear friend Fleming. We had to leave Chris behind as we shared an Uber to the airport for our red-eye flights on three different airlines.

🎯An event is what you make it.
If you hold back on introducing yourself with the intention of meeting interesting new people and the companies they represent, well, you are missing out.

If you know me at all, I leave nothing to hope and leave nothing on the floor. I am serious about making business, connections, collaboration and insights a reality.

Taking responsibility for things outside of what your job requires that offer no recognition or compensation, yet drain you of needed resources to your 'real' work where you are recognized, appreciated and rewarded.

A frightening fire in Charlotte today requiring 90 firefighters who rescue at least 15 workers from the site.

My daughter and others I know here on the ground said it was absolutely awful.

I arrived home early this morning from my red eye and somehow missed all of the chaos until I woke up.

I can finally share the big news!
Andrea Seymour has been selected by the Tory Burch Foundation to be one of their Fellows this year.

She spent dozens of hours on completing their rigorous application, going through interviews and coming out victorious!

Andrea will be part of a group of 50 women in total coached, sponsored and mentored by the Tory Burch Foundation Burch Foundation.

Thousands applied.

Fifty were hand selected and were on a video call the other day with Tory herself as she welcomed the group to this exciting venture.

There is a scholarship involved, there is collegiality, Increased visibility and a faster path to even greater successes.
